oh GOD I used to get so annoyed that my parents wanted me to write a thank you note for gifts when I'd JUST gotten off the phone and said thank you to my grandparents.

re: the brownback thing: it was his staff member and they complained to the program, and the program complained to the school. it's not a clear cut situation, but if you're going to be snarky to someone and then brag about it online, you shouldn't be surprised when people say something. OTOH why his staff gives two shits about the opinion of some teenager is beyond me, and it does seem like a bully response. Why couldn't his staff member have replied to the tweet and asked for an apology on her own?
