Honestly, nothing really. I've gotten to an age where I want way less "stuff" around and mostly prefer to just be able to pay for services I use, vacations, meals, booze, and projects around the home. So, I guess I'd say I just want my Amazon store card balance to magically disappear.

Date: 2011-12-13 09:31 pm (UTC)A year ago I wrote this post (http://cumaeansibyl.livejournal.com/537543.html), which is partly about how "it's the thought that counts" doesn't actually count for gifts given without thought, but also about how you can appreciate someone's generosity without actually liking the thing they gave you.
I try not to feel guilty about getting rid of gifts. It helps that my mom often gives me stuff with the understanding that, if I don't want it, I'll donate it to charity -- she has a hard time letting go of something that might be useful to somebody, but she knows I have no such qualms. As a result, I'm pretty used to giving up presents.
