April so far by christopher575
April so far, a photo by christopher575 on Flickr.

Figured I'd update today since it's showing four full weeks. The
calendar only shows 3 items per day in this view if you're wondering
why it doesn't add up. Wednesday this week, for example, has six.
Because I did so many on Wednesday and went so far today, I was able
to continue with the trend of going farther each week. Not sure I can
keep that up unless maybe I start walking part of the way home. But
hey, I won't mind much if I just manage to maintain at this point.

Holy cow! awesome. I need to walk more, maybe I'd do better if I kept track.

The real key for me was integrating it as part of my commute. I used to go to the bus stop at the corner, now I go to the one a few miles away. Also getting up and going first thing each day helps. Nothing's happened that can be used as an excuse to get out of it.

But yeah, keeping track is cool. It makes the sense of accomplishment easier to grasp.

do you use your phone as a pedometer/ record keeper? or do you have a gadget?

I'm keeping track on mapmyrun.com. They have an app, which has its advantages and disadvantages (http://christopher575.livejournal.com/2370681.html). I've learned that there's a "snap to roads" feature that I can use to fix a jagged route, so on days when I do a new walk, I'll go ahead and use the app. I can at least keep track of the time no matter how badly the app fails to plot it.

If it's a walk I've already done, like the normal three on Monday-Thursday, I'll just copy them from one day in the calendar and save it on the other days.
