Mistake #1

A major chain of events in my life was set in motion when I chose my first apartment in Seattle over one in the building pictured here. It's almost ridiculous how many things happened after that decision, mostly because of poor building management where I ended up and the people I met after that when I broke my lease and left.

When I see this building and the one I chose instead--which is often, as I live right around the corner--I think about how bad things in my life got, and how great they are now. And I also think about how they could have turned out even worse if I'd chosen differently. But I don't believe in regretting choices like this and I wouldn't change a thing if I could.

What I do is try to remember that all choices we make can have huge consequences. Most importantly, it's never too late to reinvent yourself and make your life what you want it to be.

Dropping out of college was one of those choices for me. I have no idea where my life would've taken me if I had stayed. Pretty happy with the path I'm on.

College! Yeah, I dropped down to part time so a friend and I could qualify for a low-income rental after she broke up with her boyfriend, then she got back together with him almost immediately. She wanted to move out and convinced the management to let us leave after a family tragedy had occurred, even though that wasn't specifically why she wanted to leave. But yeah, lots of stuff changed when I moved out of my parents' place and then had to move right back in. But most specifically, college took me longer because of it.
