I've been using the same pair of clippers since right after I moved here in 1999. I'm amazed that they've lasted so long because I really don't take care of them, and use them every couple of weeks. They're starting to stick and clatter, though, so I figured I'd replace them at some point.

I found a pair for five bucks when [profile] alexjon and I were at Rite-Aid the other day, and snatched them up. The price should have been a red flag, but I figured after so many years, maybe they're easier to make and should be cheaper now.

Wrong. These were terrible. The motor isn't very strong, and the blades aren't very sharp. You'll get across about a half inch of scalp before they clamp onto a huge area and pull. Anybody want to take them and try using them as an Epilady?

I think I'll just look for a good brand instead of a good price next time. I'm glad I didn't throw out my old ones, or tomorrow would have been hat day.

The one I have was $15 at Fred Meyer and it has lasted me several years.
It's a Groomsman from WAHL.

easier and better than getting new ones would be to fix the old ones

anyone who does clipper care or sharpening could help you

you could go to a cool barber or a dog groomer and they might do it free

you could bet new brushes and sharpen the blades for maybe $10

I think I paid $15 for them when they were new.

Ugh, too much Internet. One of the "related links" on the side of gmail says "Barber Shears" but I thought it said BRITNEY SPEARS.

LEAVE HER ALONE.

anything less than $15.99 and you're asking for pain (unless they are on close-out)
