From 5/23/04 to 6/24/06 I occasionally worked on a book, writing notes longhand for use later. Last month on the 11th, I decided to start up again. I wrote out a draft of the book from beginning to end in one pass over the course of a month or so, planning to go back to what I'd written previously to help me fill in the gaps. The first pass ended up being 42,269 words, and I just finished transcribing all my notes so I could toss them. Those total 31,291 words. 73,560 words to work with's a great start!

I'm so happy right now. The subject matter in the book isn't particularly happy, but the feeling of accomplishment is. Without getting into too many details, it's about the giant disaster my life became after I moved here.

We were doing a big cleaning and purge at home last month when I came across these notes that I'd had stashed away for so many years. It's nice to finally pick up where I left off, and I'm so excited to toss the pages into the shredder bin now that I've transcribed them all.
