Heh. With that film's budget, they couldn't even afford the extra tape, let alone a used game cartridge...

Strangely enough, there was a cartridge in every other Game Boy shown.

I'm curious if it was cheaper to film in Russia. Like, they might have gotten good deals, but what about the travel expenses? I was kind of surprised they didn't just keep filming in Toronto and use some stock footage.

Something tells me that even Toronto was too expensive to use as a stand-in. As for the flying costs to Russia, just one word: Aeroflot. I don't think it GETS any cheaper than that, sweetie!
