I haven't missed a day posting here since August 26, 2012. I don't always have something interesting to say or share, but my goal for a long time now has been to post at least something here every day. Everybody who misses the heyday here should at least try the same.

Facebook and Twitter are good for a lot of things (keeping in touch with people, talking about current events and TV shows) but neither one's very good as an archive. Thankfully between LiveJournal and Flickr, I can usually find a specific post I'm hunting for, and LJ is really great for looking back when I just feel like browsing.

I also really love tumblr, but hesitate to make it very personal. I like it as a visual repository, but also fear the power reblogs wield in terms of things gaining too much of an audience.

It's been nice to meet some new people here this year. Makes it feel a lot less dead. As always, I hope more people will come back. It was funny to see tons of people talk about how they hoped Ello could be like their old LiveJournal days, when the option to post here was available the whole time.

Tip: add "?show=P" at the end of the URL to filter out blatheriffic community /RSS feed postings.

Yeah, it's always hard when life is sucking and you don't feel like going over it again and again. A lot of my more photo-heavy periods were because of that.

Ok, I downloaded the LJ app for my phone so I can at least post photos now. Another thing that made me lose interest was Flickr no longer allowing phone posts.

If you didn't get on Ello, you didn't miss much. They had a "lightning in a bottle" moment because they debuted right when a lot of people were made about Facebook's "real names" policy with regard to drag queens' profiles. It didn't pick up the momentum it needed, though. But I'm sure a couple of people managed to get rich really quick off it.

I never understood, either, why people went to Ello instead of coming back here. LiveJournal had a lot more to offer.

Even though I don't post here as much as I used to, I read all the time. And, for me, this is still the right place -- and only place -- to be candid.

I tried it, because I was invited by a guy I was marginally into at that time. I wondered why people didn't just go [back] to LJ, and then I remembered people insist on being current and trendy.

Maybe LJ will finally become "retro" enough that people will wanna use it again. Kinda like how 8-bit arcades are super popular.

You should get a medal for keeping my feed alive. You and Alan. I miss posting, but I got into this really bitchy trend when I journaled and figured no one wants to hear that, and I don't want to be that poster/person. I may try to do one bitchy purge and then resolve to mix in some non bitchy stuff.

LJ is my "sit down and read while eating dinner" website of choice, and I went off the rails for a few weeks when the holidays started ramping up.

I prefer posting here, because of the simplicity in choosing who gets to see what (if you've already set up a "I don't want him/her/them to be ale to see this" filter), and will get back on the train again soon.

Always read what you post, and especially love when Friday and Saturday come around.
