Rainier Beer remote
May. 21st, 2015 05:45 pmWe’re turning our basement into a dive bar. It’s coming along nicely. A vine can’t show how great these two are, though. The one on the left slowly scrolls through colors which mimic a sunrise and sunset, and the one on the right has twinkling city lights along the bottom.

Date: 2015-05-22 04:26 pm (UTC)I got most of the Zima signs on the other wall from ebay, but a couple of them and the inflatable bottle were gifts from friends. One was a bartender and I guess he found it in storage. Another spotted one at a garage sale. The bottle was at the neighborhood convenience store near a friend's apartment and she convinced the guy to give it to her since Zima's not even available any more, except in Japan.
I grew up in New Mexico, and basements were very rare there back then. One reason I was excited to move here was that there was a chance I'd eventually find a basement. Ours is pretty great, too. It's a full mother-in-law, and since the house is built on a hill, it's only partially buried. There are french doors that open to the back yard, so there's tons of light and it's really pleasant down here.
I really want to cut a doorway into the little wall that separates the kitchen and install a bar with 4-5 seats. Maybe even a booth in one corner. Too bad all my lottery tickets have been defective. :)
