Nov. 3rd, 2007 09:05 amToday's plan is to go shopping in Delhi so I can buy a lot of little small stuff to give away to people. I'm fully aware of the fact that everyone is expecting presents because it should be easy to find such things cheaply. All I have so far is a new set of silverware for myself and a crapload of glass pens which you already know about.
Yesterday was an extremely busy day at work. The team I've been training did their first calls today, which meant I had a stack of five people at any given time wanting to ask me a question. They ordered pizza and it was in the room with us, but the lead didn't want to stop until everyone finished their calls. I kept answering questions until I finally couldn't take any more and left the room for a break, and had to actually yell "BREAK BREAK BREAK" on my way out because so many people were trying to get one last question in.
Once I was outside, I called in and said I refused to answer another question until we stopped to eat. This was five hours into the day so I didn't feel it was unreasonable.
The whole thing's bittersweet, of course. I'm proud of what I've accomplished here but didn't know that a lot of people back home would be getting screwed in the process. In the end, I'm pretty sure everyone will be happier anyway, but that doesn't make the situation suck any less.
One more half-day of work and then I begin the journey home. It really feels like it's been more like three months.
