When I found out that the Challenger exploded, I was at the same place my mother was when she found out JFK was assassinated. Can you guess where that was? Be specific, the city doesn't count.
But my mom and I both went to the same middle school and high school, and we were both in the courtyard at Taft in Albuquerque. I was outside because a truck bumped a gas pipe or something, forcing an evacuation. I presume she was just between classes when she heard.
I was out of school that day. I'd just moved to Port Angeles and was still using a dentist in Seattle. So, my mom and I took a day trip to Seattle. She wanted to go in a Goodwill or Value Village or some shit, and I was watching this on the TV display.
On the anniversary I wound up in the exact same store watching their TV display. This time, the news was about "one year later" so I wound up watching the exact same footage at the exact same store. It kind of creeped me out.
Damit ... I got here too late... I think I was standing with you possibly... and I remember that Tim Kram came out basically in tears and told us what happened.
