Caramel roll recipe from non-lj Gavin
Jan. 1st, 2008 04:58 pmQuite easy.
Get a package of frozen dinner rolls. Can't remember the brand
name--just a bag of little balls of yeast-bread dough. Find them in the
frozen section of the supermarket.
The package I got was 36, which was much more than necessary for nine
people.
For 36 rolls, combine two small boxes of butterscotch pudding mix (the
kind you cook, not instant) and 1.5 cups of brown sugar. (For fewer
rolls, reduce proportionately.)
Place the balls of dough (still frozen? OK-- no need to thaw) in a
greased pan.
Sprinkle the pudding/sugar mix over them (by "over" I mean it'll get
all in between the dough balls & sit on the bottom of the pan), and
then drizzle 1/2 cup of melted butter over that.
Cover w/dishtowel and let sit 6-7 hours to rise. The dough balls will
puff up and fill the pan.
I bake at 350 for 20 min., but the tops brown quick; perhaps 300 for 30
min would be better. At any rate, keep close watch so they don't burn.
Invert onto serving tray. The pudding/sugar that was on the bottom will
be on the top and ooze down over the rolls.
Serve with butter and mimosas!
