And Britney? Well, her music career was not as fulfilling as it used to be, so she became the GREATEST PEROFRMANCE ARTIST OF ALL TIME!!! Because it's all an act. No one could really be that much of a mess, right?
I think she is a huge mess, but a large portion of her "sickness" is her desire to be in front of the paparazzi at all times, and if she isnt fucking up and such, they won't care about her anymore. Some of it might be just fucking with them, but shes doing it out of her illness and desire to ALWAYS have that front cover... its all some sort of being fucked up in the end.
