Work names

christopher575A lot of people at work call me Topher, which I don't really care for but allow since they aren't calling me Chris, which I don't like at all any more. Some people from other countries call me by my last name, which I attribute half the time to their local custom, and the other half to them not being sure which is which, because the order of our names and our e-mail address formats aren't consistent throughout the company. But I almost always sign emails with my initials (CB) which has lead to my favorite work name, courtesy of my counterparts in Japan:

Date: 2007-01-17 08:44 pm (UTC)I've several times considered going by my middle name, Lee, as the number of Chris' around is remarkable. I've never really felt attached to Christopher and I rather dislike Topher (sounds kind of like a fungus to me). So, it's either Chris or something I don't have much connection to. Of those two choices, Lee seems easier for both me and everyone around me.
I really don't have, personally, anything against Chris other than how common it is.
