Tonight's Salad

Even if I wasn't already in the mood to be on a salad kick right now, I still would be because the bag of greens I bought was HUGE. Tonight's salad is the same as the one I had the last two nights, but instead of salsa and balsamic vinaigrette, I used Sri-Racha and soy sauce. It's pretty damn good.

in other briny food news, anapiznantz and her man who don't use no lj got me a jar of Vegemite when they were in Leavenworth, so I've been having it with cream cheese on my morning bagel. So delicious. It's making me crave it with peanut butter and with muenster, so I may have to take those items to the office soon.

Now I'm thinking about salads and dressings I can invent. This could be a dangerous new hobby.

Michael was jsut going on about vegimite and marmite the other day. We have friends visiting from London next month and they will bring him some. He will also get some when he goes back to New Zealand at the end of the month. I haven;t found a place in DC that carries it. I wish I could. I love grilled cheese sandwhiches that have been smothered in either.

You can find pretty good deals if you search online, but the site that has the nicest deal (About Australia Shop or some such) isn't responding at the moment. They sell pound jars.

BTW I hate you for mentioning grilled cheese with Vegemite, that sounds so damn good.

For dressing try lemon juice + soy sauce.

Try Sri-racha or Hunan Chili Garlic sauce over top of sliced avocado. Maybe with a few drops of soy sauce, but not necessary.

My favorite salad dressing is balsamic vinegar and soy sauce. I bet it's good with a little sesame oil, too.
