Sucky: I decided to leave an hour early to run some errands, and in the rush, forgot to make my lunch.
Luckily, I had thrown a Nissin instant chow mein in my backpack so a coworker could try it.
Luckier, she decided to go to Panda Express tonight, so I had some of their food.
Sucky: But they were out of soy sauce. How does a Panda Express run out of soy sauce?
Luckily, I got two fortune cookies.
Sucky: Neither made any sense when "in bed" was added to the fortune.
Suckier: Normally I eat my fortune to ensure it comes true, but theirs are shiny and look poisonous, so I didn't.
Went to Williams-Sonoma to find an olive oil sprayer so I waste less of it and make less of a mess when I cook breakfast.
Sucky: They don't have such a thing in their store.
Luckily: There's an olive oil store in the same mall. I swore I would never go there, but I need this thing.
Sucky: That store doesn't sell olive oil sprayers. Why would an olive oil store not have a sprayer?
Lucky: I found one tonight on the Williams-Sonoma web site. It's a web exclusive for them, not in the store.
Went to Daiso to get something to keep raw sugar in.
Luckily, they have at least 143 suitable containers for this purpose, and I found a really cool one with a lid that pops off by touching it in a certain place.
Went to Cost Plus to find some Vegemite.
Sucky: The guy at the register said it's banned it the USA.
Luckily, I know for a fact this isn't true.
Sucky: Kraft is still not shipping it here.
Luckily, the Vegemite site is sending me some.
Sucky: Shipping nearly triples the overall cost. And then there's the waiting.
Luckily, I found some sugar free white chocolate syrup at Cost Plus. But, if it's good, I may not need that new sugar dish after all.
Fun Fact:
poppychirpydoesn't like Vegemite. I e-mailed him just in case he had a case in his expat hope chest.
Sucky: My internet at home is still down.
Luckily, they finally decided someone will definitely need to come by to fix it. There's been a sort of stalemate between the technicians and the engineers, I think they just couldn't figure out if it should be an engineer or a technician to come out to my building.
Sucky: They couldn't come until Saturday, the 24th. Keep in mind, my service has been out since Thursday, the 8th.
Luckily, they called back because an appointment time opened up Friday, the 16th, 8am-10am.
Luckily, my foot doesn't hurt that much any more.

Date: 2007-02-15 08:49 pm (UTC)Have you ever tried Marmite? I'm told it's quite similar and you can find it in British import stores. Give it a try!

Date: 2007-02-15 08:48 pm (UTC)2. I'm not sure where I heard you are supposed to eat your fortunes to make them come true, but it's now part of my ritual. I pop the cookie, eat the first half, read the fortune, and chew it up with the second half. There's something so satisfying about the ball of hard paper against my teeth, and knowing that I will _________________. In bed.
