What is the point of this sign? I think I'll make t-shirts which say, "THE POLICE MAY USE FINGERPRINTS AND DNA EVIDENCE TO FIND YOU IF YOU RAPE AND MURDER ME".

it's to let you know that drivers will do all sorts of dangerous driving maneuvers to avoid any possibility of getting a ticket.

red light cameras cause more accidents than they prevent.

The drivers cause the accidents, not the cameras.

My hometown of Winnipeg has red light cameras, someone did a study with the claim data from autopac (the government run single auto insurance company) and the summary was:

"A 2006 Winnipeg, Canada city audit found:
"The graph shows an increase of 58% in the number of traffic collisions from 2003 to 2004.... Contrary to long-term expectations, the chart shows an increase in claims at each level of damage with the largest percentage increase appearing at the highest dollar value.""

While technically drivers are responsible, the problem is the red light cameras arent getting the intended benefits - increased safety. It results in decreased safety.

I think the cameras aren't being used to their fullest potential. Dangerous drivers should be taken off the road, and photographic evidence is one thing that can help. If all we do is give them an excuse for their erratic behavior, the benefit's not really there.

Kinda like parking the cop car on the side of the highway? Interesting.

well, not ALL intersections are photo enforced. theoretically there are lots of intersections where you could run a red light and not get caught. this is basically saying, “hey, if you run a red light at this particular intersection, you have no chance at getting away with it.”

EXACTLY!

This is why I took this pic... it is equally stupid.. if you need a gaurdrail, a sign telling you it is broken isn't going to help!
