christopher575: A model on The Price is Right showing that the contestant picked the right price, $575 (Default)

A lot of people I've talked to lately have said they are done with dating. Just so there is no confusion, I wanted it to be completely crystal clear that I am not one of these people. I'm actively seeking dates and looking for long-term prospects. In fact, I've got tentative dates on Friday and Sunday.

What you may or may not already know about me is that I was in a long distance relationship from when I moved here in 1999 until the summer of 2007. I don't plan to ever do that again. It's really a lonely way to live, seeing the person you love most only on holidays. It starts to really wear you down when you realize you spend more time with the people you hate the most.

That's really all I had to say. Carry on.

I feel your pain. (Not at the moment, but I've been there.)

I found Jim through Chemistry.com and it's amazing how perfectly compatible we are with each other. And there's no way we would have met each other in the real world. I'd really recommend Chemistry, if you're interested in trying an online service.

I'm concentrating right now on going out in public more and also staying logged into bear411 while I'm home. I'll file that one mentally for later though.

*done with dating*

I would like to be not done, but I have reached my "oh, fuck it" point, which is where I think I will sit for awhile. The online dating, she has failed me for the last time.

Go outside and throw rocks until you hit a guy.

You could ask out the "guys from out of town"... they are sure to be free now that they are done painting...

Don't do long distance unless you're using it as a stepping stone to move to that city. For realz.

Let's start a long distance relationship! Maybe we can find a third guy in another city and make the map of the US into a big gay triangle diagram.

I'll just live vicariously through you.

You should get me a spycam that I can wear so you can see what's happening while it's happening.

And you said a lot. I could probably never "survive" a long distance relationship. I am "touch, kiss and feel" kind of a person, so living with the one you love is more or less the only way for me.

And we're hitting our 7th anniversary in November. I am happy.

Take care, C, ok?

"Survive" is pretty much all I was doing. I'm amazed I lasted as long as I did.

Well, I guess sometimes we just push ourselves over the top without even knowing it. And I am sure an explosive date will just pop out. :)

I'm not giving up either. I've got the midwest covered, you keep the northwest under control.

good luck... i met my husband through yahoo personals because i was tired of the men i kept meeting in person. i was one of those "i am giving up" when really i wasn't... i just didn't want to sound like a loser. but i have one piece of advice: NEVER TRUST A GEMINI MALE! i can't tell you how many of them i have dated and they were all cut from the same mold. i am a gemini - so it's nothing about the sign itself...

i still like the idea of dating, though it is not all consuming. but if i found someone that i clicked with and that clicked with me i want to do it.
or course i would also just like to find someone that was nice that would make out with me from time to time.

I am not done with dating, but at times it feels like dating is done with me.

I never did much dating, but it was far more exhausting for me than being single was.

I know it is a total cliche, but the best guys I have met were the ones who came along when/where I wasn't expecting them.

Keeping logged into Bear411 is a good plan, though so many of them will flirt flirt flirt, tell you all the things they want to do to you, and as soon as you mention anything about meeting or getting together, they're suddenly "too busy". Hmmph.

Whoa! That's an impressive length of time to keep it going. I know what you mean though, I would like to be in the same time zone as my fella and we're working towards that. The last few months have sucked and I've no had a shag since May. Wah! Wah! Still, it'll be worth it in the long run.

Glad you still have the energy, so you should totally - like what I say would stop you, but you have my support.

I"m pretty sure my "giving up" is only partial. I'm just not going to put forth much effort. I'm going to do more stuff I think is fun, instead.

"I'm done with dating," is like when someone wakes up after a bad night of drinking heavily and says, "I'm never drinking again." Whether or not they mean it at the time, it's a product of their state of mind, and that always changes once time sobers you up.

I'm "on hold" for dating for now... Like the freek said, my prospects are:

Long Distance
Local Psycho Singles
Couples Looking for a Third Discrete married "bi" guy looking for a quickie.

But, that's what I get for being here.

I have currently ended up in a long distance relationship, with a girl from here? Too strange... she is going to school in Connecticut. I have done long distance before, but this is a whole new breed of it. The part that makes it worth it is that I am planning to move out there to be with her, and to get out of NM for awhile! :)
