Mike Seely wondering where the outrage is really annoys me. First of all, it just shows he isn't reading local blogs, because people actually are totally pissed about transit issues and travel problems.

But really, why would someone look at what he perceives as a city calmly handling an unusual situation and wish people were suffering and protesting? What a dick.

Oh jeez the Seattle We(a)kly, what do you expect. Why on earth would anyone be outraged that we're unprepared for something that never happens?

You're on the right track, but incapacitating snow/ice happened in Seattle last year, and the year before. If this was not an annual event 5 years ago, it is now and the city needs to put more resources towards preparing for it.

We haven't seen this AMOUNT of snow in some time though. 11-13" over a couple days is abnormal here as is the type of snow we got. I'm not saying there isn't blame to be thrown around, I am saying this weather event was unique to a normal Seattle winter, even a winter with some snow. This is midwest type snow that I grew up with. The stuff we get down here at sea level is not like this. It's usually a wet snow that melts in a day, 2 at most. The city does need to put more resources to being prepared for winter weather, yes, I will agree with that. Cities are strapped as it is, so I'm doubtful it's going to happen anytime soon.

We've see snow and ice that stays for days each of the last three years though. Marginally speaking, the difference between X inches of snow and X+Y inches of snow isn't great given the city can't even handle X.

Snowplows are not expensive relative to the city's $4 billion budget, and the city has plenty of heavy-duty trucks to attach them to.

Oh, but he's right -- what Seattle really needs is MORE WHINERS. Like him.

Yup.

A clueless dolt like Mike Seely, coincidentally, illustrates one of this city's fundamental problems, in his total ignorance of what's going on around him as he runs his textual yap as if he knows what's going on in Seattle.

Here, let me translate that for you:
