I SO want Trader Joe's here in Colorado. They had 'em in Atlanta the last couple of years I was in Georgia, and Tim and/or I would often make a day trip, hitting IKEA in the morning, and TJ's in the afternoon.
TJ's would totally blend with the Colorado spirit. I'm surprised they didn't originate here. Anyway, the reason they haven't moved in: Colorado's liquor laws prevent the selling of wine in grocery stores, or even beer above 3.2%. Now you CAN buy those things in liquor stores, which are open on Sundays (an improvement over Georgia), so you could buy all the same stuff at different places. But the Trader Joe's experience is so much more than the sum of its parts.
Wow, I didn't think liquor sales laws could get worse than they are here. You can get beer and wine in stores here but no hard alcohol. Those are in state-run stores, with a significant markup.
