I thought I was being so productive a while back when I found all the old checks with my last apartment number from when I lived down the hall and brought them in to work so they could be shredded. Turns out I never got any new ones, and didn't notice.

I grabbed my checkbook this morning to write my rent check and it was empty. And so was the place where I keep checks. But, I have to have more since I've only lived here 18 months, I thought. Then I looked more closely at the book I'd been using. Yeah, I was using old ones this whole time.

So I ended up going to the bank to get a money order to pay rent with and also to order more checks. I walked out with a savings account and additional checking account to use for online purchases. This is the first time in my life I've had a savings account! I've been wanting one for a while, but the bank only knew my old NM driver license number, so the online applications would never work.

She also filled out an application for a new credit card for me. It would be nice to have, but no tragedy if I don't get it.

It's nice to finally have a savings account. I feel all adult or something.

I've been wanting a savings account but haven't had one since I've been in Seattle. The one time I tried to open one, they wanted $100 to start, and I couldn't set that much aside at the time.

My choices were to have a $300 minimum balance or to have them automatically withdraw from checking to savings once a month, minimum $5. So, every month on the 15th, they'll do that.

I could handle that! And do you get a few cents of interest along with it?

Wells Fargo set me up so that i have a savings account with no fees, as long as i set up a monthly automatic deposit from checking. I don't save money that way though, cus I just move the money back from the savings to checking :))

I just use my savings account as a place to store my Windfall Money (e.g. tax refund). At least that way I feel bad for moving my money back and forth from savings to checking. Apparently you're only allowed 6 transfers :P
