My mom was falsely diagnosed with that while she was in the hospital for a broken hip. They figured out the mistake soon enough, for a while everyone had to put on gowns and gloves and stuff to go in her room. It's not a good thing to pass around in a hospital, apparently.

It makes sense. Shingles is just the chicken pox strain of herpes coming back to bite you in the ass after 20 years of hibernation.. I imagine the shingles rash could spread chickenpox while it was "shedding".
