brokenCYDE is the shittiest band ever.

EDIT

Oh wow. I wish that I didn't know what you were talking about but, sadly, I do. I can't remember if it was you or Roy who turned me on to Brokencyde's special magic. Ugg.

They are from my hometown, too. As if I wasn't already totally ashamed of Albuquerque.

Don't get me started on hometown bands. The good ones never escaped Santa Barbara; instead, we got Toad the Wet Sprocket and Dishwalla (not so bad admittedly). Heh. Maybe we should all go see them...although not drinking could make that very difficult for me.

The bands from my hometown are all niche bands, like the guys who routinely opened for Frank Zappa (Zorro and the Blue Footballs) or bands that alternate childrens' and folk albums (Trout Fishing in America).

Nobody famous, unless you count the Cate Brothers, who had a top-ten hit sometime in 75 or 76. And are still playing it, of course.

Same state, different town. I lived in the Taos of Arkansas, Evanescence is from the Albuquerque of Arkansas.

Where are you from? I would say Eureka Springs is the Taos. Or maybe the Santa Fe. I dunno. I haven't been there in over 20 years. I think.

Fayetteville. So yeah, I guess if I wanted to be all specific n shit that Eureka would be the Taos, but believe me, the hippy "spiritual flake" factor in Fayetteville was at critical mass.

And since Little Rock is the cap of the state I didn't wanna say Fayetteville was Santa Fe.

Actually now that I think about it, The Band was based in Fayetteville for a while before they got their shit together and moved to New York.

Looking on Wikipedia I see that Lucinda Williams is from Fayetteville. So there's something.

Most of my time in Arkansas was spent in Fayetteville and Goshen. Mostly Goshen.

How long were you there?

I didn't live there, but my dad is from there and every single trip my family ever took was up there to visit relatives. Never anything else. I'm kinda bitter about it.

There's a band called Trout Fishing in America!? Rock. My big bro gave me Brautigan books to read when I was, like, 12. That could explain a lot. I'll have to look up the bands that you mention later. I'm intrigued.

I know, right! When I was signing up for Google Voice I looked for cool numbers in the 575 area code but didn't find one I wanted.

Any band that is not the Misfits that uses that drippy-wax font is automatically a piece of shit. And the Misfits only barely get a pass on it.

i could have gone my whole life without watching that.

i think you're right. i think they are the shittiest band ever. it's like the worst parts of t-pain meets the worst parts of A.F.I.

why would anybody think that would be a good idea?

There is a certain formula for success that I like to call "race to the bottom". If you're crappy enough, you will appeal to the most people. Look at McDonald's. I think they are by far the worst fast food out there, but they're definitely the most successful.

Have you seen the fliers to boycott El Corazon? They don't say WHY, but I totally agree.

Ha ha ha. Awesome.
All I know is that the club holds like 300 people, but they sell 750 tickets, then continue to let people in long after the show is "Sold Out".
I loved it when it was the Off Ramp. All the good bands played there.

Dunno yet, getting the other bands lined up.

But getting the gig there is really good!

Dude, you should know me better than that. In fact, I had never even heard of them before today.

It's sad because I don't even know how to insult them. Like, what is this? What the hell is this "Crunk Kid" bullshit? Where did this come from, who gave them a record deal, and who could POSSIBLY enjoy it? I'm bordering on an aneurysm over this.

I swear if my kids end up getting into shit like this, I'm going to disown them.
