Though, they do that thing that my husband does that annoys the heck out of me, and put an apostrophe in "DVD's".

why does it annoy you? it's proper usage, isn't it?

Nope. The apostrophe is used to signify possessive, like if I said "Ed's CDs", or "Ed's dogs". Or a contraction, like making "it is" down to "it's"
