Scorched earth
Apr. 24th, 2022 02:45 pmI'll talk more about the Earth Day event we did for work later beyond just saying I'm glad it's finally over, but I'll share that I got my first sunburn in a very long time during it.

A very unpleasant surprise came yesterday when I went to the tumblr tab in my browser. I'd been signed out, and when I signed back in, was redirected to a page saying my account had been deactivated! There was a link saying to click to find out why, but it was just to open a support ticket. I never got a confirmation email about it, so I also tweeted them this morning. No response yet.
It's really maddening. Tumblr is my favorite part of the internet, hands down, and I have several blogs there. My most active are my personal one and my '80s aesthetic blog, but my writing portfolio is also there. Hopefully everything will just be restored by this time tomorrow. To give you an idea of the scale of the loss, my main blog was about to hit 20,000 entries! Oy.
I did a nice little hike with Lisa at Japanese Gulch today and we discovered as we headed up the trail that they're clearing a large portion of it. When we got to the top and came upon the other side of the cleared area, it was shockingly huge and flat. That makes me think another big office building is going in. If it was going to be new homes, they'd keep the hill so they'd all have better views.

Lots of trees came down for this, though they weren't as huge as this nurse stump. You can get an idea how big it is if you notice our shadows are on it.

We were supposed to meet a dog breeder yesterday, but she was out of dogs. She did a trade, though, so we might get to meet some this coming Saturday. Whatever happens, we've started getting the stuff we need so we'll be ready when it happens.
We're also looking for a cat, and the local inventory is shockingly low. PAWS, the organization we got Sam, Steve, and Fred from, had *one* available cat the last time I checked their site. This is an org that might normally have 30+! It's wild.
