I made spring rolls

I made spring rolls, originally uploaded by christopher575.

These have noodles, sprouts, chicken, mint, and some purple herb I don't know the name of, but love. Tomorrow I'll try it with mock crab or maybe mock crab salad.

I also instituted a new "nothing on the kitchen counter" policy so I have space for doing stuff like this.

there are purple varieties of both sage and basil. Sage has a slight fuzz on its leaf. Basil is shiny. Which do you think it is?

Based on image search results I'm going to guess it's basil. It's sold alongside the thai basil, mint, and cilantro at the vietnamese stores.

Surimi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surimi), which is cheap in the grocery stores here and pretty flavorful.

Ah, now I get it, that's the main ingredient in crab sticks here. We don't get it natural.
